Attorney Calderon

Jose M. Calderon

Attorney

Jose returns to Padilla & Rodriguez as a licensed attorney after serving as a law clerk at the firm. Since working at Padilla and Rodriguez during his 2L summer, Jose went on to gain valuable experience working at two other personal injury law firms in Houston, handling a variety of personal injury cases including automobile accidents, 18-wheeler, and premises liability cases.

His zeal for helping those in need began during his time volunteering at various non-profits in Austin, Texas. As a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin (“UT”), he began volunteering at the Workers Defense Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting workers who experienced injustices in the workplace. During his senior year he volunteered at a low-income elementary school, tutoring students in both English and Spanish. After graduating from UT as a member of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, he worked at the Austin Tenants’ Council as a housing specialist assisting low-income tenants in need of severe repairs and those undergoing illegal evictions.

After being gone for almost eight years, Jose returned to his hometown of Houston, Texas, to attend South Texas College of Law Houston (“STCL-H”). During his time at STCL-H he obtained his mediator certification, served as an officer in the Hispanic Law Students Association, and was chosen as President of STCL-H’s Texas Exes chapter.

Being the son of Mexican immigrants, Jose is fluent in Spanish. He enjoys playing sports, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his wife, Rachael, who is also an attorney. Jose is a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, Mexican-American Bar Association of Houston, Houston Trial Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association, and is a founding member of Young Houstonians for Houston Children’s Charities.
